صحف نت - Yemeni Foreign Minister Khalid al-Yemany warned of reviving the initiative of former US Secretary of State John Kerry, which is widely viewed as an overture for savaging the Houthi rebellion.
Al- Yemany said in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat yesterday: "There will be no political arrangements before making security (arrangements) at all."
This comes at a time when the UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, in an interview with the United Nations Radio, stated that there is among the parties of the conflict in Yemen (the government and the Houthi coupists) to come to the table of talks. He pointed out that he will brief the Security Council next week on how to the talks will start again.
"I would like to bring the parties together in the next few weeks," he said.
In his comment to Asharq Al-Awsat on the issue of Hodeidah, the Yemeni foreign minister said: "our position, which we expressed with the explicit support of the Arab Coalition, is the no single item in initiative can be accepted. We are talking about an initiative that is one package. An initiative that evicts Houthis out of Hodeidah, as a seaport and city. This is the minimum requirement and is the principle of the UN Security Council resolution 2216."
